We woke up early (6:30), but first night sleeping all the way through! We went for a walk with Graham along the road, but too many flies landed on our backs. The dairy sheep farmer up the road has something to do with that... After a shower, we went into Montepulciano to walk around and look for a few supplies. Here is Hawk, sneaking out of another church.

He pulled me in for a second, it really was beautiful.

The streets are narrow and winding, with even skinnier offshoots.

It's really clean and beautiful.

We think this guy on the top of that tower there actually strikes the bell for time, but we didn't see it happen. Still.

Okay, it's Hawk's birthday, he gets to do the churches. This one was massive and beautiful.

Hawk took the interior shot while I waited. We got everything we needed in Montepulciano, what a great trip.

Gina and I stayed home in the afternoon and quietly talked while working/reading/cooking. Hawk and Graham and Adam and Megan had a delicious private wine tasting tour they engineered themselves. And then we sat down to this dinner, made even more wonderful by the company and the toasts and the cigars and the shooting stars. Perfect.

Here's a picture Hawk took of the winery.

Graham made a very sweet speech about the importance of family and friends. There were many speeches. And toasts.

Adam is going into the kitchen, Sue is sitting next to Graham with Brian on his right.

The tomato and mozzarella course.

The foraged figs, grapes and fennel flowers.
