| We got back to the island on Friday night late, after Hawk had to fly into Chicago from Philadelphia. We spent the night with Haley and Liam and went to see some of the houses they were looking at, then we flew home. So nice to get on that little plane. We've been playing with the house. First, we found some crooked and interesting madrone branches to put up on the wall for our stair railing. |

Then we bought a pair of star jasmine to hide the car butts in the parking space from the terrace. We set 4X4s in concrete and built this great arbor for them. Don't you love the notches? |

Here's the 50s style cocktail dress I bought at Blufly to wear to the James Beard Foundation Media Awards in New York City on May 6th. Mari's documentary "Living on the Wedge" was nominated for best television special, and we're all going. The dinner will be great, major chefs are doing it, and we've always wanted to go to this media awards banquet for which we have judged for a decade. I'm totally getting some fake tan on those legs this week! |
