| Today we deserted Jim and Jonee when they went to the supermarket and went to the river for a canoe trip. We rented three canoes and they put us in a van to drive a few miles upriver. Actually, quite a few miles upriver. Then they put us in the river and all we really had to do was steer. Paisley and Peter took Cora, with Paisley in the stern steering. |

Kit and Ray were in another canoe, with Kit steering. |
| And here's my mistake: sitting in the bow and letting Hawk steer. Why? Why did I do that? Three times into the bank. |
 |
 |
Hawk takes a minute to tell us where we are on the river, and point out some sights to look for that none of us ever saw. |
| The river ran very fast, it was still about two hours. We did see some cave dwellings from prehistoric eras. This one was a church, we think. |

When we got home at around 5:30, there were Gina and Graham! We thought they'd be on a later train, so cool. We fired up the grill to cook our duck hearts on rosemary skewers. Ray and Liam attentively tend the grill. |
| We had duck hearts, leftover cioppino with bourride (Hawk bought a blender so I could make the bourride), salad, and cheeses. Lots of local excellent wine. Yum. |
 |
 |
We found the relax position on our dinner chairs. |
| We felt really comfortable and happy until we saw the bird, which was closely examining us from the top of the tower. Note its beady little eyes, tightly focused on me? The conspiracy theorists in our group know exactly what he is doing. He flew off stealthily right after I took this shot. |

After dinner we played our version of boules. |
| Peter pulled the beamer up to the house to play music for us, and Jim and Jonee danced. We had armagnac and I shared my cigar, and we ate chocolate. |
 |
 | Then Ray spotted the week's best sunset, so we all retired to the dinner table again. |
| Paisley and Peter and Haley and Liam pose in front of the best of it. |
