| We all woke up around 7, we all slept all night. We felt great, it was amazing. We checked out the hotel breakfast, which was $15 for a croissant and coffee and juice, and decided to hit the street. We found this cool little outdoor cafe and got the same breakfast for a third of the price. |

We jumped up after breakfast and started in on the Sarlat market, which seemed to stretch through the whole center of the city. Hawk and Ray check out the duck confit, fat, magret, sausage, foie gras, and rillettes. We also bought duck carcasses to roast for dinner. |
| There was duck everywhere. So many stores and so many stalls. |
We bought some potatoes from this guy so Ray could duplicate the potatoes roasted in duck fat that we had last night. Isn't the scale he's using wonderful? |
| We found this bread crocodile in the window of the store where we bought bread. |
This is the view from the top of the Bastide at Domme, about 10 miles from Sarlat. We took Kit and Ray here to see one while we were waiting for our Le Metaire Haute arrival time (4 pm) |
| Aren't these roses amazing? They are resting on t-posts stuck into the walls. We're thinking about how cool those would look on our San Juan Island house, way above the heads of our deer herd. |

A view down a street in Domme. Built at the end of the 1200s, very beautiful and still a real village. |
| We bought chanterelles at the market, shallots, garlic and a fresh whole truffle. We made risotto with them, shaving the truffle on top. |
Liam and Peter tend the outside grill, where we cooked the duck carcasses. |
| While Paisley and Haley and Ray hung out in the kitchen. |
The duck carcasses filled the whole grill, but Hawk figured out a way to cook them perfectly anyway. |
| Here we are at dinner, using the new woven tablecloths that Kit and I bought at the market. |
Haley (former vegetarian) eats her duck carcass so gracefully. |
| While Hawk just digs in. |
It was delicious. |
| After dinner, while Ray made creme anglaise for our prune tart, Hawk amused everyone with stories of his exploits with facts. Nobody is more trivial, according to Hawk |
Here's our dessert, it's amazing that a prune tart could actually be delicious. |
