We got to the island and spent the first 10 days working hard on the property. A tree was down that needed chopping up, and of course then we had to weed whack all the underbrush. Next was the garage, which needed battens and stain, and it also needed shingles on the front side. We stained and battened, but we got Taine to do the shingles. |

Didn't
he do a beautiful job on the pattern? |

looking at our beautiful new pond. |
Even though it is low and clearly leaking, it's still beautiful. We
love it.![]() |
Here's the
front of our architect's office, aren't the details cool? |
And here's
her little guest cottage. It has that cool mix of board and batten and
shingles that we like so much. |
This is the view from our outdoor dining room table, and the property is all Nina and Paul's. The house is on the left, the horse barn on the right. We get to watch their beautiful horses prance around in the morning mist in the field below our land. |

Bill and Matilda

Bay Reserve Sculpture garden. |

We wanted to try out kayaks, so we went on a three-hour tour with San Juan Safaris. It was good, but too slow and too long. John and Tori (our friends in the Swedish village from Carmel) were coming to look at the lot and then have dinner at 6, we got home at 5:30! We had a delicious time with them that evening, it was almost like the midwest -- so warm even at 9:00. The next day we drove down to Jackson's Beach and rented two singles. The double sucks when you both want to steer! We took them to the County Park and paddled the 500 yards to our lot. |
