Fourth of July 2005

Friday Harbor does a big parade on the Fourth, with tons of floats.
We rode in Barbara Marrett's float, which was to promote her candidacy for Port Commissioner. She's Bob Querry's friend who writes for Crusing World, is crew for Alaskan Eagle (a beautiful big sailboat that takes people on cruises in far parts of the world) and works at Arctic Raven gallery in town.
Kelley made a float for Wood Duck Ponds over Kit's golf cart. She was hidden inside and drove it expertly around the streets, doing spins and turns and blowing her little wood duck caller. So so cute!
Here's the one Kelley made for Carlene's Cakes, with Carlene standing behind in an apron.
After the parade, we went to Kings and got hamburgers for our barbeque with Barbara and Bob later. It's raining, so we might set it up in the new part of our house, almost finished. Here's a shot of the sink, nearly functional.
It's so worth it, though, as you can see from the view. That's looking out one of the "living room" windows. I put that in quotes because it's all one little room. But what a view!!!
And here's more of the room, taken from the front door. Doesn't the pergo floor look great? We'd like to put the rest of the trim up, we cut it and painted it, but we're waiting for Taine and his nail gun.
Here's a shot of the bathroom. Well, part of it. It's yellow. It will only have a shower, in the corner there. Maybe we can fit our wardrobe in there too. Now we are going to finish the trim, cut the murphy bed down so it fits better, and then come inside to work on real work.
We had Bob and Barbara over for barbequed hamburgers that night. We shot off the cannon to celebrate the 4th, very cool noise.
Hawk checked out the range of our wireless so we could listen to NPR while we waited for them to come. It almost reaches the cocktail area.
Nina emailed us these pictures from her birthday dinner on Saturday. We made her the chocolate truffle cake, and they served paella outside on their deck. After dinner, we sat in front of the fireplace. It was so beautiful!
