Late March 2007

We left for Seattle at 2:15 am, driving from Madison to Midway, through a driving rain, hail, and lightning. We made it by 5:30, checked in, and then our 7 am flight was cancelled b y the weather. We finally got to Seattle 5 hours late, 2:15. We were thinking we'd just stay at Paisley and Peter's house, we were so tired, but Haley and Liam decided to come to the island that weekend on the 8:25 pm ferry, so we got on it too! We were up for 24 hours that day... Here's the little cutie going for a toy under the china cabinets.
We hired Jose's crew of garden workers to lay gravel for paths and to re-do the terrace by Hawk's cove. They mostly got it done, but they work so slowly!!! We found a bunch of little rocks all lined up by one of the paths, so stupid. Liam went down there to offer to help, trying to get them moving a little faster. We'd like some help putting boulders around our beds, but we just hate their work pace!
Liam built us another set of steps, down to the cocktail area. Aren't they great???
Then he cut apart this huge fallen Madrone branch. At Easter, we're bringing it into the house to see if it will work on the stairs. It's beautiful.
Here is Hawk, out on Pingree Rock, properly disposing of the oyster shells from our hors d'oeuvres course at dinner.
The T-House at Hawk's Cove is really finished now! We replaced the slate and filled in between with pea gravel. So level! And just look at the beautiful terrace we created in the flat area. It will be perfect for Jessi's wedding, all three big tables will fit.
We cleaned up under the deck, put gravel paths all around. We'll cover them with bark chips, I think. They are a little stark right now. But very level and clean.
Here's our front door with the tile all in. We still need to put fascia boards around the outsite, some lattice on the sides, and clear polyurethane on the red, but isn't it spectacular?
