| We got a first class compartment on Amtrak for our meeting in Washington DC. It was really fun to take the train, it left at 5:30 p.m. and was supposed to get in at noon, but it was 4 hours late. We were only a little late for our meeting. |

We ate dinner in the dining car, pretty good food. And then we had brandy (that small bottle we got at Christmas) in our room. The porter made up our bed at 9, we went right to sleep. We took more pix than these two, but with our new camera. Most of the photos were fuzzy. Aargh. |
| When we got back, we spent time with the kids and had an early Mother's day party. Then we flew to the island on Sunday. It's very quiet here, Taine is not around, and we are working on house projects. I finished sanding the door and bought some madrone red paint for the outside. I'll paint it tomorrow in between working on our deck. |

The window guys came and replaced those windows that were bugging me. They look so much better! |
| And the tile guy came and put some of the backer board up and poured the base for our showers. |

Note how sparkling clean our windows are! We were really efficient, it only took about an hour, inside and out. You can pop all but the center window out of those threes, and it's easy to reach the outside of the center one from one of the holes. |
| We spent most of Saturday and Sunday building our deck, which is almost finished. Hawk is putting a supporting block up underneath. You can just barely see the dead mouse on the ground behind him that he found in his tool belt when he was reaching for a screw. |
