| Sardines! 8 of them arrived the day we got back here, and I put them on the wall above the kitchen sink. We have a school of Marilyn MacKenzie sardines! |

They are ceramic and very beautiful. Jonee gave me one when she came for the October weekend. |
| So we worked really hard on the house, and Paisley and Peter and Ray came the Sunday before Thanksgiving to help us. Haley and Charlotte arrived on Monday. We installed the toilet ourselves, and Peter helped us with the sink, the mirror with the faucet in it, and especially the shower. And then we got the bathroom doors on! Yay! We thought we were going to have a houseful of overnight guests at Thanksgiving, but we only had our own family. Still, we filled every room. The three darling children were so cute together, especially in our teak bathtub! |

Paisley and Peter left on Saturday and Haley and Liam left on Sunday morning early, then the storm hit. We got about 8 inches of snow, here is how Pingree Rock looks covered in snow. |
| Here's a look south. It was really windy, and the power went out at noon. |

 |
The snow got so heavy on the deck that Hawk had to get it off the top of the outside heater -- it was bending under the weight. |
| On Monday morning, Hawk went up our road and took his toy chain saw to clear a couple of trees to get out. We just wanted to see what was going on, we still didn't have power. We got out to Westside Road in the Mountaineer, it just climbed right up our hill. But once we got to the main road, we couldn't believe the destruction. |

 |
Trees were down everywhere, there were four places that the power lines were down between our road and San Juan County Park. We could see OPALCO down there fixing lines, but it was still windy and trees were still coming down and it was still snowing. |
| We went a few hundred yards each way, but that was it. Trees everywhere across the road and on the lines. |

Sage and Pearl found a great place to be warm, up by the school of sardines. |
| But we didn't get warm until the power came back on, at around 8 p.m. on Tuesday. We didn't run out of water or food, but it was hard to stay warm. A lot of lessons for next time! |
