| The first two weeks of October we spent in Madison and then Boston and New Hampshire. We had dinner at our new apartment with Ray and Rosanne and Dhavan and Christy and Karen and Mike, Ray cooked Matt's chicken and made creme brulee. Very fun, and we got to have lunch and then drinks with the Klipschs, who were still in Madison. Then we drove to Chicago and had dinner at North Pond Cafe with Marge and Murray to celebrate her birthday. An opera singer sang "Happy Birthday" to someone at his table right next to us, so Hawk jumped up and asked him to sing to Marge, too. So cool. Then we flew to Boston the next morning to hang out with Gina ang Graham in their new apartment. This is one of the downstairs fireplaces. There were lots. |

This long view shows it's a huge apartment, over 3,000 sq ft. |
| The finish work in this place is amazing. It's right on the Charles, a few blocks from the University. Beautiful. | ![]() |

We had dinner at a great restaurant that we walked to, and then drove to New Hampshire the next morning. This nearly 200 acre farm was an old mill, so they call it the mill. |
| The dining room is beautiful and elegant. | ![]() |

We spent a lot of time in the kitchen, which has a mural of the surrounding country when it really was a farm and the house. |
| Adam and Megan arrived late the first night. Megan learned how to drive Graham's tractor, which he had shipped from Clyde. | ![]() |
![]() | It was incredibly hot in New Hampshire, into the 90s the first two days. Luckily, the local ice cream shop was still open! |
| We went on long walks every day, the last one took us to this gorgeous pond. We missed true colors by a couple of weeks. We don't want to miss it next year... | ![]() |
![]() | Peter and Paisley arrived first for the big birthday weekend (Haley and Jessi) and celebrating Rob and Nicole moving here. Peter trimmed a bunch of Madrones around the water side of the house, some up a ladder, but very carefully and from the ground only with Amelie. |
| Carlene and Kelley and Kyla and Cody came over for lunch, we had lamb chili and then the kids made Halloween sugar cookies. | ![]() |
![]() | You expect the kids to eat the cookie dough, but the flour??? Charlie was really loving it. |
| It was a lot of happy kids and adults. | ![]() |
![]() | Then Paisley and Haley and I went to the spa at Roche Harbor, and when we got back, Rob and Nicole and Elliot and Nicole's parents and sister were there. Kit and Carl came over, we had pizzas for dinner and lemon meringue pie (for Haley)and chocolate cheesecake (for Jessi) for dessert. The next day, we carved a lot of pumpkins. |
| Don't they look great? Kit accidentally grew them in her compost and gave them to us. | ![]() |
![]() | Rob got a great shot of me and Amelie, both smiling. |
| The next day, everyone was gone. Except Cora, who will stay with us until Halloween when we drive her to Kirkland. Today Hawk showed Cora how to knead bread. She got it right away. | ![]() |
![]() | We kept Cora until Halloween, then we took the ferry to Anacortes and drove her to Kirkland for the party. Cora was an orca. |
| Morgan was an octopus and Amelie was a goldfish. | ![]() |
![]() | This was Charlie's year to be the Chicken, so Haley and Liam were a fried egg and bacon. |
